• Welcome

Hi, my name is Liesel. Welcome to my blog. I am a twenty-something graduate student and newlywed living in the Midwest. For the first time in my life, I am able to understand and fully feel the effects of a recession including tightened budgets, unemployment, and rampant fear. I come here to vent and deal with the frustration of it all. This is also a chronicle of my life with my husband, Barrett, and the three jerks: our dogs, Molly, Mikey, and Joey. I love feedback so please feel free to leave a comment or send an email.
  • I’m currently reading…

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski. I gave this book to both my mother and my mother-in-law for Christmas. I know, that means I had not read it yet. But it was on Oprah's Book Club and I'm all about letting Oprah make big decisions for me.

Liesel

Welcome to my blog. My name is Liesel and I’m a newlywed, student, and master procrastinator. A reader of others’ blogs for some time, I have decided to try it out for myself. I recently finished the second year of a Master’s degree in Community Counseling and have given myself the summer off classes to return to some semblance of balance in my life. It’s true, what they say, about the first year of marriage being the hardest. At least for us. Barrett lost his job three months before our wedding and after eleven months of unemployment, has recently re-entered the workforce. This is something I am both anxious about and thankful for. This past year has tested us and stretched us to our limits but it has also taught us about how far we are willing to go for each other and for our marriage. I’m writing here in the hopes of being candidly honest about what we are going through. I want to take the stigma out of not having it all figured out. Barrett and I have both always been meticulous planners. We are learning that it may be best to give up control and give in to a life unplanned. My loves include cooking, my dogs, and organizing to my heart’s content.

Around here, you will find random ramblings about marriage, our dogs, various cooking adventures, and items I find interesting, among other things. Writing is therapeutic for me and my hope is that I will find this outlet a creative outlet for stress.

  1. You never cease to amaze me, Liesel. You are such a talented young woman. I am overwhelmed by the professionalizm of this blog. I want to spend more time here — later. Love You, a.r.

  2. Have you read “Breakfast With Budda”. Marvelous.

    • I have not read that but I will definitely add it to my summer reading. That sentence makes me a bit giddy. It has been too long since I have had time to read ‘for fun’ books. Thank you for the suggestion!
