• Welcome

Hi, my name is Liesel. Welcome to my blog. I am a twenty-something graduate student and newlywed living in the Midwest. For the first time in my life, I am able to understand and fully feel the effects of a recession including tightened budgets, unemployment, and rampant fear. I come here to vent and deal with the frustration of it all. This is also a chronicle of my life with my husband, Barrett, and the three jerks: our dogs, Molly, Mikey, and Joey. I love feedback so please feel free to leave a comment or send an email.
  • I’m currently reading…

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski. I gave this book to both my mother and my mother-in-law for Christmas. I know, that means I had not read it yet. But it was on Oprah's Book Club and I'm all about letting Oprah make big decisions for me.

The post in which I bitch and complain.

Ugh. July is not being very nice. Not nice at all. What is the use of having most of the summer off to play if the sun won’t come out and entertain you? We’re in the 70’s here, which is not at all normal for the Midwest. Seattle, oddly, stole my sunshine and I want [...]

An excuse to make a lot of really good food.

Though Barrett’s actual birthday was yesterday, we celebrated the occasion on Saturday with friends and family. I decided to throw him a pirate themed party complete with fisherman’s net, skulls on a rope, and eye patches for all. I did not take nearly as many photos as I had hoped I would so you will [...]

I don’t care if I never come back

Tuesday, we joined some good friends of ours, John and Anjanette, to watch their son play baseball. Little league baseball, it is important to note. I am not a huge fan of baseball in general but little league? Be still my heart.
Also important to note is that Tyson’s team was playing for the championship, where [...]

Lemony Fresh

Joey is obviously much smarter than the little credit we were giving him. I have been quietly anticipating the arrival of one sweet little contraption since placing an order with Petco last week. Joey barks barks barksalot all of the time. If he’s outside, he’s making the entire neighborhood aware that he on his turf [...]

The day he never saw coming.

I have nothing to share with you yet but excitement and anticipation. Today, if UPS is feeling up to keeping their promises, is a day that will forever live in infamy. Today, Bark Bark Barkerson with the bullet barking is about to get his little wagon fixed. I will share more later but I will [...]
