• Welcome

Hi, my name is Liesel. Welcome to my blog. I am a twenty-something graduate student and newlywed living in the Midwest. For the first time in my life, I am able to understand and fully feel the effects of a recession including tightened budgets, unemployment, and rampant fear. I come here to vent and deal with the frustration of it all. This is also a chronicle of my life with my husband, Barrett, and the three jerks: our dogs, Molly, Mikey, and Joey. I love feedback so please feel free to leave a comment or send an email.
  • I’m currently reading…

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski. I gave this book to both my mother and my mother-in-law for Christmas. I know, that means I had not read it yet. But it was on Oprah's Book Club and I'm all about letting Oprah make big decisions for me.

Dreaming of…

I am dreaming of this

Wolf 30" Gas Range

Wolf 30" Gas Range

and this

Nikon D5000

Nikon D5000

I know, both are insanely expensive but truly, if I won the Lottery, these would be at the top of my “must purchase now” list. I don’t think I would quit working if I won. I might just work less and spend more time with these two pieces of equipment.

I am amateur at best but I would like to learn more about photography. Heather Armstrong, over at dooce.com, has inspired me with her photos. I am an especially big fan of the action shots she catches of her dogs, Chuck and Coco. Like this one and this one, although I’m pretty sure most of the photos of my dogs would turn out more like this, the lazy jerks. While I am positive it will take me years to capture the kind of shots Heather and her husband, Jon, catch, I am positive this camera would help.

As for the stove, it would simply make my life more interesting because of the gorgeous red knobs that would match the accessories in my kitchen. And also because of the amazing meals I am sure I could dream up just by staring at the thing for inspiration. I am certain, however, that the demo required to get the gas line to the stove would make my life much, much more difficult. Or at least more stressful because God knows Barrett and I don’t have those kind of skills so we certainly would not be the ones doing the installing. Still, it is a beatiful range. I may just be willing to sacrifice the stress.
